Dr. Emmanuel Amankwaa-Frempong holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine with a research background in Breast Cancer Genetics and Tumor Markers. He received his initial medical education in Ghana – followed by specialization in clinical and radiation oncology at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Ghana. He has also completed a radiation oncology fellowship training at the Cork University Hospital in the Republic of Ireland. He is registered to practice in Ghana. Before joining SGMC, Dr. Amankwaa-Frempong was the project manager in charge of an ongoing cancer project organized by Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in Ghana. He has both published papers and presented at international conferences on issues such as Breast Cancer Chemotherapy Response, and Radiotherapy Treatment Planning. Currently, Dr. Amankwaa-Frempong is one of SGMC’s on site Clinical Oncologists and the Head of Research, responsible for driving all research activities at SGMC and for leading collaborations of educational programs and projects with other health institutions.
